A Comfy New Start for Jada

When Jada received the keys to her new apartment, it was the fresh start she had been working toward for herself and her four young children—three boys and one baby girl. But starting over with an empty space and little support made it hard to feel like home.

She was referred to The Mustard Seed by her case worker, and though quiet at first, Jada’s energy came to life as she explored the furniture warehouse. With help from our Client Specialist, CeeCee, she handpicked each item—laughing together as they found matching chairs, colorful animal-themed canvas art, and little touches that made the space hers.

But the moment that lit her up the most? Choosing the perfect, big, comfy couch.

“I just want to sit down… and relax,” she smiled.

Jada received 19 pieces of furniture to help transform her new apartment into a place of comfort, warmth, and pride. Her advice to others?

“Use the help while you can. Some people don’t like taking help, like me… but I would say—take the help.”
