A Sofa for Donetta
“I can’t work, I’m partially blind, and I need help furnishing my house.”
For Donnetta, a tumor impacted her vision, leaving her struggling to support her three children. She was living in week-to-week hotels to keep a roof over her children’s heads. “Hotel living is hard.”
Many families experiencing homelessness will turn to hotels and motels for shelter. Whiles some will stay for a few weeks to a few years, the average hotel stay for those experiencing housing insecurity is 11 months.
Donnetta lived with her brother for a year until she was able to find her own apartment. “We’ve been sleeping on the floor for two weeks until we found out about The Mustard Seed.”
The Mustard Seed was able to help Donnetta make her house into a home by providing 35 pieces of furniture. When asked what advice she would give to others, she shared, “Reach out. The Mustard Seed can help.”
