Beds for Erica, Anthony, and Their Children

Erica and Anthony were attending their son’s funeral, when natural disaster claimed their home and all their possessions. The couple and their children resided in Tallahassee, and in May, a series of tornados tore through their area of town, resulting in their displacement. They fell behind on bills, were evicted, and their family of 6 was living in their car.

Trying to stabilize their family after tragedy was a challenge. “Tallahassee wasn’t the best place for us. We moved here, and have been staying in a hotel for…4 months.”

Anthony is a veteran, and served in the Air Force for over 20 years. The VA helped the family find stable housing, and they were then referred over to The Mustard Seed.

“We’re so grateful for this, because we have nothing.”

When asked what the family was most excited to receive, Erica responded, “A bed! Sleeping on the floor stinks.”

Erica shared that if she had advice for anyone going through hardship, she’d say to them, “look for help. There are guiding lights everywhere.”

In total, Erica, Anthony, and their four children received 38 pieces of furniture, including beds for every member of their family to sleep on.
