Client Story: Alexus

For two years, Alexus, 27, struggled through difficult challenges. She lived in her car with five children under the age of 10. To stabilize her family, she then moved to a mobile home only to find it infested with rats and plagued with mold.

“I dealt with it for a little while because we had nowhere to go,” Alexus said. “Then I lost my job.”

For the health of her children, Alexus moved into a homeless shelter. While there, she gave birth to her sixth child.

Alexus and her children lived in the shelter for 15 months until she landed a full-time job doing technical support for an international company.

With a secure job, Alexus moved into a new apartment and was referred to The Mustard Seed for furniture assistance by Chrysalis Health.

Thanks to YOUR SUPPORT, Alexus and her children received everything they needed to make their house a comfortable and stable home.

“Places like The Mustard Seed are a blessing because when you come out of being homeless and get a place, you have nowhere to sleep or sit,” Alexus said.

“It’s hard to choose between paying your bills, buying food or buying furniture,” Alexus continued. “So this is just one less thing you have to stress about when you’re trying to take care of your kids.

“Finally, after all the prayers, I’m back on my feet,” she said.
