Client Story: Richard
Richard, a Navy veteran, along with his wife, Holly, and daughter, Ariel, found themselves homeless after the owner of the house they rented decided to sell it.
The timing couldn’t have been worse.
Richard injured his back and knee in the Navy and needs surgery. The pain is unbearable and makes it difficult for him to walk, he said.
His military “non-service” pension was also cut, he said, after he had married his wife. Holly has a spinal cord injury and is on medical leave from her job. With their income cut, the couple also lost their two vehicles.
“We’ve just had a rough time,” Richard said.
The family had been living at an extended-stay hotel for nine months, but thanks to The Mustard Seed’s partner, the HUD-Vash program for veterans, Richard received housing assistance.
And thanks to YOUR SUPPORT, The Mustard Seed furnished the family’s new home.
“Thank you very much,” Richard said.”We were sleeping on the floor, so this furniture assistance helps a lot.”
