Kiara’s Strength, Furnished with Hope
When Kiara became homeless in July 2025, she had seven children depending on her and no easy path forward. For months, she lived in a hotel with her family, first through temporary support and later by paying the weekly cost on her own with one income.
“It was a lot,” Kiara shared. “You don’t know if you can pay the room one week or not, and you got seven kids looking at you like, mommy, what’s next?”
But Kiara kept going.
Through every uncertain week, every hotel payment, and every setback, she continued searching for stability for her children. After being connected to community resources, Kiara finally secured housing in April — a major milestone earned through persistence, faith, and determination.
When she came to The Mustard Seed, she was looking for what every mother wants for her children: rest, comfort, and the feeling that they were finally home.
When asked what she was most excited to receive, Kiara answered immediately.
“Beds.”
For Kiara, receiving beds meant more than furniture. It meant her children could walk into their rooms, see something of their own, and feel the stability she had worked so hard to give them.
“It makes them feel like it’s home,” she said. “It’s complete. They have their own. They know they’re stable.”
That day, each of Kiara’s children received a bed — helping her turn her new place into a home of dignity, comfort, and belonging.
When asked what advice she would give to others facing hardship, Kiara’s answer reflected the strength that carried her family forward:
“Don’t give up. Just keep pushing.”
Kiara’s story is one of resilience, motherhood, and the power of refusing to quit. The Mustard Seed was honored to help make a house a home for a mother who had already done so much to rebuild her family’s future.
