A Living Room for Katherine and Her Children

After 19 years of marriage, Katherine found herself navigating life as a newly single mother. “He took everything pretty much in the divorce,” she shared. With two children to care for, Katherine was trying to rebuild—not just emotionally, but physically—with very few belongings.

Then disaster struck again.

“The little bit that I did have… we had a water heater burst from the top and discovered it with over three inches of water in the home,” she explained. The furniture she had managed to keep was lost in the flood, compounding the challenges she was already Mother (Katherine) and Daughter on donated couch in The Mustard Seed facilityfacing as a full-time parent, student, and employee.

Katherine came to The Mustard Seed of Central Florida in search of stability and space for her family to thrive again.

“I’m most excited for our living room set… so my kids aren’t all stuck in my room like they have been for quite a while. They’ll be able to have their own family area for game night, watching movies, and just enjoying time together.”

Her advice for others going through hardship?

“It’s not as hard to go into the unknown as you think.”

Katherine received 33 pieces of furniture, including beds, a dining table, and the living room set that will serve as a new gathering place for her family to enjoy game night together.
