Company Summary

The mission of The Mustard Seed of Central Florida is to help rebuild the lives of families who have suffered disaster or personal tragedy by providing household furnishings and clothing while being environmentally responsible to our community.

The Mustard Seed’s vision is that the provision of basic household furniture may set the stage for individuals to achieve restored dignity and self-esteem, enabling them to move ahead and take control of their futures.

Position Purpose

The Retail Supervisor’s main purpose is to maintain the sales floor, handle donations by sorting and process transactions. Keep The Seed Boutique organized and place items strategically on the floor to ensure customer shopping ease and satisfaction, while delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

The Retail Supervisor will perform tasks under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Operations including, but not limited to:

● Sorting items as they arrive in the warehouse area, identifying the name brands and well-known companies, dividing product into categories, hanging and tagging for the sales floor.

● Accepting donations from donors, via the warehouse, as well as assuring that all of the donated items are recorded in inventory.

● Be able to operate POS cash register, process payments, and handle transactions accurately and efficiently.

● Manage all retail employees and appropriately delegate responsibilities to them.

● Work with community service workers and volunteers assigned to retail in order to ensure they are properly fulfilling their tasks, remaining productive and enjoying their experience.

● Keep the retail area aesthetically pleasing.

● The position requires some computer use so the employee must have sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen.

● Categorize items to be priced, identify the price tags to be printed on the server and print.

● Pricing items according to thrift marketplace to be affordable and profitable.

● Monitor all retail sales at the end of the business day. Sign off on all retail sales for the day, mark on the appropriate forms and turn them into the office management.

● Supporting Mustard Seed Management in leading all special projects as they arise, pertaining to the retail store and its operations.

● Ensure clients stay out of staff-only areas. Also monitor for shoplifting and report that activity promptly to the appropriate sources.

● Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.

Required Qualifications

The primary qualifications for the position of Shop Associate are:

● A strong and unwavering commitment to ethical business practices, including honesty and integrity.

● Must have a pleasant and upbeat demeanor, with excellent communication skills.

● Superior interpersonal skills, especially in relating to clients and donors of different backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, sexual orientations and abilities

● Must have be a self-motivator while working for and with the team.

● Must submit to drug and background employment screening tests.

Educational Requirements

· High school diploma minimum education requirement: 1 – 2 years’ experience in retail or customer service is preferred.

Physical Requirements

· While performing the duties of this Job, the Retail Supervisor is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, speak and hear, lift 35-50 lbs. push and pull.

· This position is in a warehouse location with no air conditioning

Salary Range

● The salary range for the Retail Supervisor is $16 – $20/hour, in addition to the employee benefit package offered to full-time employees of The Mustard Seed of Central Florida.
