Recycling Yard Manager

Company Summary
The mission of The Mustard Seed of Central Florida is to help rebuild the lives of families who have suffered disaster or personal tragedy by providing household furnishings and clothing while being environmentally responsible to our community.

Position purpose
The Recycling Manager is responsible for all facets of the recycling center.

We are looking for someone to help grow our business.
We need a Recycling/Yard Manager for a metal and foam recycling department.

Tasks include:
• Establishment of mattresses and box springs for the recycling processing facility through hotel industry, municipalities, resorts, hospitals, prisons and government operations.
• Represent the company to the vendors in matters of solid waste field operations regarding customer service, safety, and operational issues. Investigate and take appropriate action in response to vendors complaints or inquiries. Ensure improvements are initiated to eliminate continuing problems
• Responsible for all aspects of the facility; included but not limited to, all employees in warehouse and recycling departments (Ferrous, Non-Ferrous, Processing and Administrative), all operational aspects and decisions within the yard consistent with annual and monthly performance goals.
• Attend site inspections with the vendors, regulatory agencies, etc.
• Some hours driving company vehicles.
• Promote safe, clean, efficient working environment.
• Enforce proper safety standards and precautions. Provide Safety Training to all onsite employees. Has authority to direct production employees to take immediate corrective action on minor deficiencies.
• Project management \ installation \ testing of equipment.
• Scheduling repairs and preventative maintenance on company equipment.
• Continual measurement and improvement of the company’s processes and equipment.
• Ensure waste disposal activities are in compliance with health, federal, state and local ordinances and regulations pertaining to the collection and disposal of all solid waste, including overseeing the preparation and maintenance of compliance reports and records.
• Prepare daily and weekly records and monthly reports on recycling activities, such as quantities of waste handled, receipts from operations, actions are taken, etc. Maintain all Quality Control records.
• Enforce education awareness on site to staff, volunteers, donors and vendors to enhance and increase diversion goals.
• Hiring, supervision and management of 1-5 employees across multiple shifts.
• Direct workers to perform work duties. Train new staff as needed. Management of all community service workers and corporate volunteers to ensure the proper procedures are followed.
• Achieve production targets for volume processed, material recovery and quality.
Required Qualifications
The primary qualifications for the position of Recycling/ Yard Manager are:
● A strong and unwavering commitment to ethical business practices, including honesty and integrity.
● Must have a pleasant and upbeat demeanor, both on the phone and in person, with excellent communication skills.
● Superior interpersonal skills, especially in relating to staff and volunteers of different backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, sexual orientations and abilities
● Must have be a self-motivator while working for and with the team.
● Must submit to drug and background employment screening tests.

Experience
• Recycling Industry (Preferred)
• Forklift certification
• Clean driving record
• Multiple baler operations
• Excellent Communication and experience in Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Education
• 2-year degree preferred

Physical Requirements
• Must be able to lift to 50-100 lbs. daily without any special compromises.

Salary
• Dependent upon experience- Range from $14 – $16/hr.
