Community Shop Store Manager

Department: Thrift Store

Reports to: CEO and Director of Operations

Exemption: Yes

Position Purpose

The Store Manager’s main purpose is to lead this new retail experience with a thorough understanding of retail business operations.

· Responsible for managing the daily activities in the store

· Responsible for financial forecasting and risks analysis.

· Responsible for preparing financial reports, budgets, and financial statements for the store

· Ensure that the store operates within stipulated budget.

· Manage administrative duties assigned by the human resources and admin manager in an effective and timely manner

· Ensure that proper records of goods are kept, and the racks and warehouse does not run out of products

· Manage external research and coordinate all the internal sources of information to retail the stores best customers and attract new ones

· Identify, prioritize, and reach out to new partners, and business opportunities

· Develop, execute and evaluate new plans for expanding increase sales

· Represent the company in strategic meetings

· Model demographic information and analyze the volume of transactional data generated by customer purchases

· Organize and place items strategically on the floor to ensure customer shopping ease and satisfaction, while delivering excellent customer service.

· Ensure that the store facility is in tip top shape and goods are properly arranged and easy to locate

· Interface with TMS staff at home facility

· Control goods distribution and supply inventory

· Supervise the workforce in the thrift store.

Day-to-day activities at The Mustard Seed of Central Florida

You’ll be responsible for the daily operations of a retail store, including managing inventory, merchandising, sales, and customer service. Your main job is to make sure sales goals are met, the staff is well-managed, the store operates successfully, and customer needs are met.

Here’s a closer look at the day-to-day activities

· Open & close the store

· Hire, manage, train, and motivate staff members.

· Manage employee schedules.

· Set sales goals for the store, forecast future sales volumes, and meet sales quotas.

· Develop and execute promotions.

· Sort products from donors, vendors and suppliers

· Negotiate bulk price.

· Analyze and coordinate inventory.

· Create and maintain attractive and accurate store displays.

· Organize and oversee product brand line reviews.

· Reprice merchandise and recommend markdowns when necessary.

· Work with and report to senior management to create and maintain store budgets to maximize revenue and profits.

· Control receipts and prepare daily or weekly sales and inventory reports.

· Communicate sales trends.

· Attend to customers by greeting them with a smile and assisting them.

· Manage questions, complaints, and comments from customers.

· Random security checks to ensure receipt of purchases.

· Customers may be clients, staff, volunteers, bulk buyers or shoppers.

Required Qualifications

The primary qualifications for the position of Shop Associate are:

● A strong and unwavering commitment to ethical business practices, including honesty and integrity.

● Must have a pleasant and upbeat demeanor, both on the phone and in person, with excellent communication skills.

● Superior interpersonal skills, especially in relating to staff, volunteers, clients and donors of different backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, sexual orientations and abilities

● Must have be a self-motivator while working for and with the team.

● Must submit to drug and background employment screening tests.

Experience

· 2-4 years’ experience in retail management and customer service is preferred.

· Bilingual a plus

Salary

· $40,000/year with bonus potential

Educational Requirements

· 2- or 4-year degree preferred

Physical Requirements

· While performing the duties of this Job, the Shop Associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, speak and hear, lift 35 lbs. push and pull.

Driver

Position purpose

Under the direction of The Mustard Seed of Central Florida, Inc. (TMS) management, the Driver and Furniture Mover is responsible for exercising the proper use and extraordinary care of TMS vehicles and other equipment. In addition, the Driver is charged with the responsibility of representing TMS in a professional manner to members of the community, and with encouraging in-kind donors to make a financial gift at the time of donation pick-up. Drivers, therefore, are held accountable for proper cash handling.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

The Drivers will work in teams of two alongside furniture movers under the supervision of TMS Management to provide TMS donors with donation pickup and TMS Furniture Program clients with delivery services including, but not limited to, the following:

· Must demonstrate a pleasant and professional demeanor and appearance in accordance with TMS policy at all times.

· Responsible for the quick, efficient, and safe movement of all donations from the place of pickup, for both residential and commercial donors, to the trucks, into the warehouse and organized appropriately.

· Inventory all items as they are picked up on the daily route.

· Responsibly collect and track client cash donations at furniture pickup. Ensure that all donors receive a receipt. Must promptly turn in all money and tracking paperwork to TMS management at the end of the day.

· Must responsibly handle and carry the gas card, spending only on TMS purchases approved in advance by TMS management.

· Responsible for following route map directions provided by TMS management in the most efficient route possible as good stewards of gifts to TMS from the community. Responsible for ensuring the route directions are clear prior to leaving warehouse.

· Effectively and appropriately supervise all community service workers and volunteers assigned to the route as Furniture Mover Helpers.

· Perform warehouse duties when not on a pick-up or delivery.

· Supporting TMS management in all special projects as they arise.

· Other duties as assigned by TMS Management.

Required Qualifications.

· Must be at least 21 years of age.

· Must submit to drug and background employment screening tests. Due to nature

of work this person must be able to enter a residence and interact with clients without legal restraints.

· A strong and unwavering commitment to ethical business practices, including honesty and integrity.

· Superior interpersonal skills, especially in relating to clients and donors of different backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, sexual orientations and abilities.

· Must have valid U.S. Driver’s License and maintain a good driving record in accordance with TMS policy.

Preferred Experience

· Forklift certification not required, but such skills are preferred.

Educational Requirements

· Must have a GED, high school diploma, or equivalent job experience.

Physical Requirements:

· Efficient, strong, hard-working and able to multi-task. Must be able to lift up to 50-100 lbs. on a daily basis without any special compromises. May be required to carry heavy merchandise upstairs.

Recycling Associate

Title: Recycling Associate

Position purpose 

The objective of the Recycling Associate is to facilitate the needs of the Recycling Center as directed by the Recycling Supervisor and/or Recycling Manager 

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks 

  • Ensure a safe work environment 
  • Sort all recyclable items as they arrive in the warehouse and place them into the appropriate handling location. 
  • Accept mattresses from drivers, warehouse personnel and donors. Record and report to bookkeeper for invoicing, if the Recycling Supervisor and/or Recycling Manager is unavailable. Determine the criteria and specifications for reusable mattresses as well as unusable mattresses. 
  • Must properly and safely use all hand tools and related equipment in the recycling department  
  • Responsible for the deconstruction production levels of mattresses and box springs.  Adhere to cutting 50-75 mattresses per day per staff person.   
  • Maintain and organize the recycling areas inside and outside the facility including the office and lobby cleanliness. 
  • Quality control of material being baled – no metal or plastic pieces in foam
