Furniture for Maria and her Siblings
After her mother was incarcerated, Maria, age 23, took custody of her three teenage siblings. “The situation was horrible. We didn’t have anywhere to live. I just wanted a better way of life for my siblings.” Maria connected with a case manager, who was able to secure her housing, and referred her to The Mustard Seed. “I would never be able to afford to get us set up with things like a couch or a tv. It’s nice to not have to worry about this anymore.” Maria and her siblings received beds to sleep on, as well as all the furniture they needed to make their house into a home. “I felt so alone in all of this, and I just never wanted my siblings to feel scared or stressed. This program gives me such peace of mind for them.”
For 35 years, The Mustard Seed has been rebuilding the lives of families like Maria’s. You can help rebuild the lives of families emerging from crisis this holiday season by clicking here.
