Vanessa and Titus’s Journey Fueled with Faith

Vanessa and her husband, Titus, arrived in Florida earlier this year with their five children, one car, one RV—and hope.

They had made the move from Ohio, believing they could start fresh. But almost immediately, unexpected challenges piled up: their car broke down, their RV was towed, and they found themselves spending nights sleeping on the sidewalk in downtown Orlando.

“My children were pushing Walmart shopping carts, walking miles… I’m very proud of them.”Vanessa and Titus celebrating their new mattress!

With no shelter available and a long waitlist ahead, they relied on faith and the kindness of strangers. “God always sends help,” Vanessa said. “People fed us when we didn’t have anything to eat. He always shows up—somehow.”

After months of perseverance, the family finally secured housing. It was then that they remembered The Mustard Seed of Central Florida, a resource they had once heard about during their most difficult days. At the time, it felt like a distant possibility. But now, with keys in hand and a fresh start ahead, they realized the mission of The Mustard Seed was exactly for families like theirs: resilient, determined, and finally ready to make a house a home.

“My children are ecstatic about furniture and being home. They’re excited about beds.”

The family of seven received 37 pieces of furniture, including beds, a dining table, and a living room set—turning their empty house into a true home.

You can help families like Vanessa and Titus rebuild their lives. The support they receive through The Mustard Seed restores dignity, offers relief from hardship, and creates the foundation for a fresh start.
